Holland win Inaugural FCW Tournament Day - 1/23/03 |

In the inaugural FCW Tournament Day for U11 - U14 FCW team members, the Holland team took first place after a fine day of inter-club competition. The team consisted of (l to r) Maddy Fisk, Claire Powers, Courtney Gardner, Jen Mussio, Sara Rose Tepfer, Katie Bidwell and Kate Arbogast. A total of 8 teams competed in the tournament played in a 2 bracket, round robin format on MLK Day. The teams were not coached but did receive ongoing instruction. "I was very pleased with the overall quality of the play from all our participants and, more importantly their desire to accept instruction while they were competing," said Technical Director, Tom Rowney. "The technical and tactical excellence of the players was outstanding and the games were certainly worth watching. We scheduled the tournament day to give our players the opportunity to get together for a day of competition, take responsibility for organizing their team formation etc., and to help our older players develop some leadership skills." A second tournament day will be scheduled for February and all U11-14 team members are welcome to participate. |
