Posh Fall Short at Surf Cup 2000 - 8/4/02

Despite an excellent showing at this years Surf Cup in San Diego the Posh team bowed out in the quarter-finals stages losing 0-1 to Washington rivals the Parrots.  The tournament started well in group play with a 0-0 tie against Minnesota State Champions, St.  Croix from Minneapolis.  This was followed by a 4-0 win over the Surf Blue from San Diego and a 2-1 win over the GSA Phoenix from Georgia.  Despite two wins and a tie the Posh ended 2nd in their group on goal difference and moved into the quarter final stages to play the Parrots.  "Apart from the 1st 15 minutes when we gave up a sloppy goal,  we were outstanding against the Parrots," says Technical Director, Tom Rowney.  "In the 2nd half,  we had all the chances but couldn't put the game away.  All in all though it was a great tournament for us,  and the competition was about as good as it gets in the country."

The tournament was won by St. Croix, whom the Posh tied in their first group game.
