Pride Reach Semi's @ Nomads 4/5/07 Our U16 Pride team had a fantastic showing at the recent Nomads Showcase, one of the top tournaments in Southern California. In their first bracket game they tied the Blast Royals (Cal-South) 1-1 on a headed goal from Carly Kolpin. In their second game they defeated the CSC Red (Cal South) 3-1 with goals from Redburg, Housley, and Tepfer. In their final group game they defeated the Utah Nike Rush 1-0 on a last minute breakaway from McKenzie Redberg. In the Quarter-Final game, the highlight of the tournament, the team came up with some top-class goals from Kolpin, Redburg and Housley to defeat the Valley United Stars from LA 3-0. In the Semi-Final the team played solid, particularly in the 2nd half and after going a goal down to CRSC Infinity (Cal-South) came back with a superb free-kick from Redberg to tie the game, 1-1 which was the final score. Unfortunately, the team lost on penalties and did not progress to the final. Nevertheless the teams' performances at the tournament were excellent. The U17 Power team also participated in the tournament and despite a solid performances in their first two games a 0-2 loss and a 1-0 win, the team could not get past the strong West Coast FC team and did not progress to the knockout stage.
